In recent articles The Times, The Daily Telegraph and iNews all named Penshurst as one of the best food and farmers markets in the UK. Set against the wonderful backdrop of Penshurst Place, our thriving market now has over 25 regular stalls providing a huge variety of fresh, local produce. Particularly popular are our fresh fish and seafood, free-range meat and game, bread, pies and deli products, cheeses and craft ciders. You’ll also find fruit and vegetables, chutneys and jams, cakes, plants and fresh flowers in season.
Our aim is simple: we want to give our customers the opportunity to buy high quality, fresh, seasonal food and drink direct from independent local producers. And when we say local, we mean local: the vast majority of our produce comes from Kent and Sussex (which means that it is grown, reared or caught here) with just one or two stallholders based in neighbouring Surrey. All of our prepared foods (pies, jams, deli foods etc) are handmade locally, using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.
We are a family business supplying top quality seasonal fish and shellfish mainly from the ports of Hastings and Rye, include Rye Bay Scallops, Dover Soles and much more.

We are very lucky to enjoy a fabulous location against the backdrop of beautiful Penshurst Place. Visit the Penshurst Place coffee shop for takeaway drinks and snacks and visit the historic house and grounds. Penshurst Place and the surrounding estate have stood in the historic village of Penshurst since the 14th century, when the awe-inspiring medieval Baron’s Hall was completed in 1341 as a country retreat for the Lord Mayor of London. The Baron’s Hall, crowned by an original 60ft high chestnut beamed ceiling is an unmissable sight for visitors to the ancestral home of the Sidney family who have taken care of the estate since 1552.
The stately home and gardens were once used as a hunting lodge for King Henry VIII. The Solar, Queen Elizabeth Room and Long Gallery to name but a few, contain a collection of beautiful family portraits from across the centuries, antique furniture, skilfully crafted tapestries and much, much more.
